Ernest Toussaint

Ernest Toussaint (March 8, 1908 – August 31, 1942) was a Luxembourgian boxer who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics.

In 1936 he was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the heavyweight class after losing his fight to the upcoming bronze medalist Erling Nilsen.

He was shot in the concentration camp in Hinzert (Germany) after being arrested as one of the leaders in the general strike against the Nazi occupation in Luxembourg on 31 August 1942. The country had been protesting against the introduction of compulsory military service for young Luxembourgers in the German army. Toussaint's widow and his two sons were deported.
